Anaheim-based agency founded in 1963 joins growing Temecula-based insurance brokerage
TEMECULA, Calif. — Old Harbor Insurance Services LLC, a Temecula-based independent insurance agency, today announced the acquisition of The Insurance Shoppe Inc., a longstanding Anaheim, California agency founded in 1963. The acquisition combines two California agencies with a shared commitment to personalized client service and brings The Insurance Shoppe’s loyal client base into Old Harbor’s growing portfolio.
The Insurance Shoppe was founded more than 60 years ago by Walt Plegel, who built the agency on a foundation of trust, integrity, and deep relationships within the Anaheim community. The agency has remained family-owned and operated, most recently under the leadership of Walt’s son, Michael Plegel, and his daughter-in-law, Jenny Plegel, who together have carried forward Walt’s legacy of treating every client like family.
After evaluating numerous prospective buyers, Michael and Jenny selected Old Harbor Insurance Services as the right partner to continue serving their clients. The decision reflected a careful search for a firm whose values, service philosophy, and long-term vision aligned with the standards Walt Plegel established at the agency’s founding.
